MetroPCS announced two new LTE-enabled smartphones at the International Consumer Electronics Show, in Las Vegas, the LG Connect 4G and Samsung Galaxy Attain 4G.

The former will be available next month for a price that will be disclosed in due time, while the Galaxy Attain 4G will be available in the “coming weeks” for a “limited time” for only $199 (160 EUR) with a new $50 or $60 plan and after a $50 mail-in rebate.

Unlike the LG Connect 4G that comes with a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, the Galaxy Attain 4G is equipped with a standard 1 Ghz single core processor.

The smartphone is powered by Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, which provides users quick access to more than 400,000 apps via Android Market.

In addition, Samsung Galaxy Attain 4G sports a mediocre 3-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and video recording capabilities, as well as a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for self-portraits and video calls.

Furthermore, the device comes pre-loaded with Google’s full suite of apps and services, including Google Talk, Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube and more.

According to MetroPCS, customers who purchase the Galaxy Attain 4G can choose between Rhapsody Unlimited Music or MetroSTUDIO services.

The former enables subscribers access to more than 12 million songs, whereas the latter allows users to access multimedia content, including Video on Demand that provides access to TV shows, sports, entertainment and news.

We are committed to delivering the latest smartphones that fit our customers' needs and provide unmatched value with our 4G LTE service. We believe that the Galaxy Attain 4G fills a sweet spot within our growing 4G LTE portfolio, packing all of the Android features that consumers have come to expect and that allow them to do more,” said Tom Keys, MetroPCS president and chief operating officer.
