AMD Trinity demo was followed by at least one unexpected revelation

Advanced Micro Devices has managed to impress its CES visitors quite a lot with its Trinity demo, but there might be something on its roadmap people have yet to learn about.

Apparently, even if Intel does manage to get Thunderbolt completely off the ground, it might not have time to savor its success.

That's because Advanced Micro Devices is reportedly determined to release an alternative to that technology.

Dubbed Lightning Bolt, it will use the mini DisplayPort, just like Thunderbolt.

AMD intends for the first iterations of the technology to handle four HD displays at once and/or multiple USB 3.0 devices.

A hub will be priced at about $40 (31.35 Euro) and will probably power docking stations and the like.

Unfortunately, there is no way to tell when the Sunnyvale, California-based company will have the technology ready.
