Well, after so many iPod docking stations designed all over the world by both big and smaller names, the CES 2008 has been the place for the introduction of a new audio concept from leading manufacturer, Altec Lansing: Works with iPhone.

The "Works with iPhone" idea is something different from a simple statement on a sticker: Altec Lansing has requested (and received) official approval from the iPhone manufacturer, Apple Inc.

This approval, together with the Altec Lansing badge are a strong guarantee that the new docking station, codenamed T612, is not the kind of crappy technology other pull off, with thin and lousy sound or ridiculous design. After all, take a look at the pictures and see the noble shape of the T612...

The new Altec Lansing T612 will offer you high-quality amplification for your iPods, and it also comes with a wireless remote control for a more convenient operation. Both iPods and iPhone will also be charged during their docking in the T612, whether you play them or not. This new dock comes with a neat incoming call support function which will let you know if someone's calling you; yet there is no info if the music "ducks" or stops or pauses or whatever.

Despite this neat feature, you will still need to pick the iPhone up and take the call as it seems like Apple have not included an audio call forwarding to docking stations (so far). On the other hand, in case you were thinking of buying an Altec Lansing T612 for work, let's say, this function would be most likely useless, because you would probably not be that willing to stress your colleagues with your private calls.

But if you're planning to get a very nifty and good-sounding dock to accommodate your iPhone as well as your iPod, the Altec Lansing T612 might be just the right thing to go for, especially as the price is quite OK, maybe a little higher because the product is very new. More specs are expected soon.
