At CES 2008, Audio Technica have presented their latest solution for working with both the digital audio media and the older technology, the vinyl disc.
The result of the engineering efforts has come to life in the body of the AT-LP2D-USB turntable, a device whose purpose is to let you rediscover the content of your old vinyl records by ripping their content into a digital file format you can then play wherever you like.
This solution has been adopted by other manufacturers as well, but the legendary heritage of Audio Technica guarantees the excellent results you're going to have with the AT-LP2D-USB. This turntable sports top Audio Technica components, starting with the dual-magnet, with a replaceable diamond stylus cartridge loaded in a fully-automatic tonearm offering extended playback without scratching your vinyls, dual speed operation (33 1/3 rpm and 45 rpm) and a removable dust cover.
Even more, the AT-LP2D-USB sports a direct connection with your PC or Mac, via the included USB cable, allowing you to
administer the content ripping using your favorite software or the supplied Cakewalk PYRO (PC) or Audacity (Mac or PC). PYRO will let you transform the ripped content in MP3, WMA, WAV and many more other file formats while also boasting a DeClicker feature to eliminate clicks, pops and crackles from noisy LPs, a DeNoiser option for eliminating excessive hiss and hum. Additionally, you can also create the layouts for your CD and jewel case inserts with easy-to-use and convenient software features.
The Audio Technica AT-LP2D-USB not only works with your computer but it can also be used as a phono component in your audio rack as it comes with its own built-in switchable stereo phono/line level preamp. The RCA supplied cables will let you hook up the AT-LP2D-USB to any audio equipment sporting either Aux In/Line or Phono inputs, including powered loudspeakers.
The AT-PL2D-USB will be available at a US MSRP of $299.
