Everything tends to go wireless, from the smallest to the biggest pieces of tech, engineers are struggling to embed wireless communication capabilities and have everything running with as few cables as possible. Well, if in the case of data transmission of wireless remote controlling things are pretty clear and a lot of equipment can be provided with proper cord-free operation, in the case of audio and more precisely - loudspeakers, things are still not done with, yet.

[admark=1]Usually, besides the claims of manufacturers, there is more than a power cord involved in today's wireless loudspeaker systems...and this is bad, because we're talking a "wireless with wires" technology. Engineers haven't give up the fight though and the CES 2008 brings the fulfillment of the past promises Neosonik have made: a true wireless surround sound system, with nothing but loudspeakers and their inherent power cords.

This new thingie has been just showcased at the CES this year and at the heart of everything lies the Neosonik digital wireless controller which not only broadcasts audio, but does the same job with video data. Things are as simple as they get: you have your multimedia rack, full of components, both video and audio; you add in the new Neosonik wireless controller and plug in it exactly what you need from your rack. Ir runs with no less than 6 HDMI slots and a heap of other inserts for audio so there is plenty of inputs at your disposal so that you could configure your system the way you like.

Then it's the new Neosonik loudspeakers: these new units sport built-in wireless receivers and amplifiers and need just to be powered up. The digital wireless controller can administer full 5.1 arrays and it even sports a second zone management in case you need such features in a larger residence. The 200 feet (more than 65m) radius is well enough for the largest of homes and inside it the transmission of both audio ad video signals is flawless, with no dropouts to hinder you.

The new Neosonik gear runs in the 5GHz band but with a different technology than the traditional Wi-Fi, called Airpower AV and is pretty much immune to common interference and has an intriguing declared latency of 6 nanoseconds only. Prices are between $6,000 and $15,000 for packages including the wireless controller and various 5.1 speaker sets.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
