The Carnegie Mellon University's Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) has issued an advisory to warn users and companies about a telnet debug shell vulnerability in HP LaserJet Pro printers that could be exploited by cybercriminals to gain unauthorized access to data.

The security hole, identified by Christoph von Wittich of Hentschke Bau GmbH, has been reported to HP. The company has released firmware updates to address the issue.

The affected HP LaserJet printers are: P1102w, P1606dn, M1212nf, M1213nf, M1214nfh, M1216nfh, M1217nfw, M1218nfs, M1219nf and CP1025nw.

Users are advised to update their firmware. The latest variants are available on HP’s support site in the “Drivers & Software” section.

However, if you want an easier way to find the updated firmware for each device, you can download them from Softpedia.
