Jeff Raikes will leave the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Jeff Raikes, CEO of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, has announced his decision to step down from his position, but no details on his successor have been provided.

Raikes will stay within the foundation until a successor is found, with Bill and Melinda Gates expected to find someone to replace him by the end of the year.

While no details on the reasons behind this decision have been revealed, Raikes claims that he wants to “do some things I haven’t had time for, including my work at the Raikes Foundation.”

“It has been a privilege to get to do this urgent, important work with you, and it has also been a lot of fun. I’m focused on making sure that the transition to your next leader is as seamless as possible, so that you can continue doing this work with the intellect and passion you bring to it every day,” the CEO said.

Of course, the first name that comes into one’s mind is Steve Ballmer, but I highly doubt that Microsoft’s outgoing CEO has what it takes to lead such a large charity. Even though he’s such a good friend of Bill Gates…
