Currently on medical leave of absence, Apple CEO Steve Jobs is said to be planning an appearance at tomorrow’s scheduled event in San Francisco, according to an Italian website’s claims.

The source, which seemingly aims to promote last-minute hype about Apple’s CEO, wonders who will go up on stage at tomorrow’s event.

Citing information gathered by the site’s staff, it boasts: “[it] should be Steve Jobs.”

Softpedia notes

Let alone that recent footage of Mr. Jobs suggests the man is in no condition to even walk to the local dairy, Apple’s CEO has not announced his return, therefore the speculation dished out by Setteb.it should be taken for what it is - speculation.

Then again, the video of Steve Jobs’ wobbling trip from a cafe to the passenger seat of his wife’s sedan may not be 100% accurate, nor the pictures dished out by The National Enquirer earlier this month, based on which doctors speculated the man had mere weeks to live.

And then comes everyone’s favorite part - when speculation reaches critical levels so high that it could easily pass for conspiracy:

Steve Jobs makes a surprise return, rising like Phoenix from the ashes with a tablet in one hand and an etheric MobileMe announcement in the other, all backed by a church choir, with heavenly light bursting out of a huge Apple logo emerging from behind the dark-blue curtains, and tiny Apple confetti pouring over the mesmerized audience.

Jokes aside, we wouldn’t call this theory far fetched either, knowing how Apple likes to impress. Admittedly, pulling such a stunt would win back quite a few stock points for Apple.

But the fact remains that neither Steve Jobs, nor anyone in a position to speak for Apple has said anything about the CEO taking reins back.

As such, we’d advise our readers to take this rumor with a boulder-sized grain of salt until the lights are dimmed for the first time this year at Apple’s favorite venue for big announcements.
