As you've been able to see from our articles on the subject, JVC has come up with quite a lot of new and interesting products for this year's CEDIA show, including here two ultra-thin and very attractive LCD TV sets. These two devices from JVC's Procision series, the 42-inch LT-42SL89 and the 46-inch LT-46SL89, offer users full HD resolution, as well as a built-in TV tuner, and they will occupy very little room around the house, since they sport a super-slim form factor.

The first thing that will draw anyone's attention to JVC's new slim LCD TVs is their external case, which across most of its width measures 1.5 inches (39mm), with a maximum depth of just 2.9-inches (74mm) at the panel's center. Moreover, the LCD TVs are also extremely light, weighing just around 12kg each.

The slim design was made possible through the use of a new JVC-developed slim panel backlight unit that is 40 percent smaller in depth and bezel width compared to a conventional LCD backlight, measuring just 0.79 inches (20mm) deep and 0.51 inches (13mm) wide. This was achieved by optimizing the light-diffusing plates and light-reflection sheets, as well as improving its overall composition.

On the other hand, JVC has also developed a new power-supply substrate and employed a direct-mount configuration for it on the LCD panel backlight unit with a fan-less heat dissipation system to further reduce power consumption. By applying these innovations, the power consumption was reduced to just around 145W.

The connectivity options offered by the devices from JVC are quite extensive, since we're talking about three HDMI inputs, two component inputs, one S-Video in and a PC input. Additionally, the HDTVs come equipped with front touch sensor controls, a headphone jack, USB picture viewer and an illuminated universal remote control.

The LT-42SL89 and LT-46SL89 are available in stores starting now at approximate retail prices of $1,899.99 and $2,399.99, respectively, which is by no means a small sum, but it manages to remain well within the market limits for this type of products.
