Back at CES 2008, Hitachi launched its UltraThin line of high-definition LCD TVs, which had been announced since the second half of 2007. However, since then, this series grew to include more models, so the Japanese company used CEDIA as the perfect platform to present the whole line of devices gathered in just one place.

As expected, the chance of showcasing its whole line of ultra-thin TVs in one place was a good opportunity for Hitachi to point out the major selling points these products have to offer. "From the moment we launched our UltraThin 1.5 line, we wanted to offer consumers the combined benefits of choice, flexibility, elegance, aesthetics and performance. The great momentum we’ve seen with this line, combined with the industry accolades we’ve received, are proving that we’ve achieved that objective. We are extremely enthusiastic about what the future holds for Hitachi as we continue with our UltraThin product developments," stated Daniel Lee, vice president of marketing for Hitachi Home Electronics, speaking about the company's CEDIA lineup.

The Director's Series includes no less than five models, with diagonal sizes ranging from 32 inches to 47 inches and providing either 1920x1080p (37 to 47-inch models) or 1366x768p resolutions. Like all the other products from the UltraThin "1.5" family, these HDTVs have a 1.5-inch (3.81-cm) depth, accompanied by a very attractive external design and certain features that make them stand out from a crowd, as for example the Reel120 (120 Hz) and patented ventilation technologies, the backlight, power supply and elegant crystal frame.

Apart from the 47-inch UT47X902, scheduled to arrive in stores in September for an estimate $3,799, all the other models from the Director's Series (X) are already available to the general public and sell for 1,500 up to 2,900 US dollars, depending on the specific model.

The Ultra Vision (V) series shares the same general design features with the X series, apart from some minor differences. Hitachi offers five V models as well, but each of these HDTVs (including the 47-inch UT47V702, scheduled for a September release) are around $200 cheaper than their respective counterparts from the Director's Series, which might make them more attractive to the general public.
