Gamers will have to explore the world in order to create all of them

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the most interesting titles set to launch early next year and the development team at CD Projekt RED says that gamers will be able to get access to a variety of powerful armor sets for Geralt.

Stan Just, an art producer, tells VG247 that gamers can “assemble special Witcher sets of armour. They’re related to the Witcher schools, so the Wolf is not the only one. They come in four different levels, and you can only achieve the highest levels by crafting the previous ones.”

Previous titles in the Witcher series did not explore how other members of the order prepared themselves for battle with monsters and the studio might deliver more details as gamers create the special armor and use it.

The developer adds, “That will hopefully engage the players into getting into the quests that’ll enable them to gather all of the parts of the set, get the bonus stats and achieve the final stage of the armour. The final stages of those special armours are really, really impressive in terms of artistic style.”

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt uses an open world structure for the first time in the history of the franchise and the team has created a huge universe that the player can explore on foot, by horse, or via ship.

Gamers can choose to stick to the core story missions, trying to find a mysterious girl and to deal with a major event from Geralt’s past, while stopping the rampage of the powerful Wild Hunt and its supernatural leaders.

At the same time, they have the freedom to explore side quests, some of them well hidden in the wilderness, or to simply find areas that harbor powerful creatures and hunt them down in order to earn trophies and more resources that can be used to improve the protagonist’s loadout.

CD Projekt RED has promised that the combat system is faster and more precise and that all the characters have clearer backgrounds and motivations.

The game was shown in action at both E3 and Gamescom and the demos were impressive both from a visual standpoint and in terms of mechanics.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be launched on February 20, 2015 and can be played on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft, and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

CD Projekt RED has not said whether it plans to continue the series without Geralt as a protagonist.
