CART Fury: Championship Racing is a video game developed and published by Midway Games. It was created and released exclusively for the PlayStation 2 gaming device from Sony in 2001, when the console had just been launched on the market. The title is classed as a racing game with a third person perspective. This is one of the most notable arcade to videogame conversions that Midway has done.
CART Fury Championship Racing is seen by many as the most realistic arcade racing games that Midway has ever done. It is based on a license provided by Championship Auto Racing Team, and there are drivers like Jimmy Vasser and Michael Andretti that appear in the game. Realistic looking track circuits, like the Chicago Motor Speedway and Surfers Paradise, Australia, are used. There's an interesting gaming mechanic called the Boost Meter. Using it will offer you a speed boost and leave the other drivers behind. If you manage to complete a lap on the circuit in designated time, you will get a Superboost, which basically leaves a trail of fire behind your car as you drive past the opposition.
There are five game modes that CART Fury offers: Arcade, Simulator, Season, Sub-Games and Driving 101. There are 12 locked cars in the game and you can also get access to a special Last Man Standing mode in which the last driver to remain on the track wins.
