The FBI lauds it

The CAN-SPAM act has been around since 2003 and even though a lot of people have said that it should be harsher, the FBI says that it has been great for them. With this law helping them, they have nabbed a lot of bad-guys. It's really aiding them in the fight against spam and cyber-crooks that use it (spam) to scam people.

For those of you that have never heard of CAN-SPAM, well, it's an act issued 4 years ago, and the acronym stands for "Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing" (that sure is a mouthful!). It basically goes against spam, but in 2004 it grew larger teeth, allowing spammers to be fined up to 6 million dollars! Oh boy, are the Storm guys going to get it!

Also, the best ting is that international relations have gotten better over the years and CAN-SPAM can be better enforced. And as an FBI representative nicely put it, if you were in the US, got a ton of spam and traced the spammer's address to Romania? well? that was about it a few years ago. You just had the info that a spammer resides in my country. Wow! That was useful! In any case, things have changed now, and with countries having all these new security policies it's a lot easier to nab a hacker. Say the same thing would happen again, the Americans would receive full support, not as much because there are nice guys in our Police departments, but because this has started to affect us too.

With CAN-SPAM leading the way and similar acts popping up in other countries as well, I really think that officials are doing a lot to fight spam. I think that people are starting to acknowledge this as a problem that needs to be solved, and this can only be something to cheer at!
