IKEA redefined, in time, its position as a major company keen on respecting its customers and earth-friendly values. The company focuses on making profit, while trying to decrease the potential negative effect its activity might have upon the environment.

The individuals and enterprises that choose to decorate their places with fashionable products coming from the Swedish furniture retailer, should be aware of the fact that IKEA continuosly struggles to provide sustainable items that are produced using just the right amount of energy.

In order to make this achievement possible, IKEA relies on the support of revenues that reached $23.1billion last year.

Also, approximately 127, 000 employees make sure that the company's standards comply with present regulation when it comes to quality and environmental awareness.

The company's officials made sure they protect the atmosphere by reducing the amount of CO2 emissions.

In order to complete this mission, the staff delivered more products from factories to stores at the same time, reducing costs and also making transportation more earth-friendly.

Also, by packing the products using brown cardboard, IKEA makes the price of products decrease and allows its customers to recycle this material.

After they improved the condition and transportation of the items they sell, representatives from IKEA plan to focus on the kind and amount of energy they use for their technological processes.

Since 2005, the Swedish enterprise tried to preserve energy, while relying on alternative sources of power.

Even though they didn't establish a time frame for this strategy, officials state that, until 2015, the company set as a target to use the energy need in a more efficient way.

Also, representatives plan to reduce by 50% the quantity of water they presently use to develop all their items.

Further more, IKEA wants to apply the benefits of solar energy to its business, by investing in solar panels for the roofs of its 150 stores. This seems like a very ambitious goal since by December 2010, the Swedish corporation only managed to install seven panels on 17 centers.

For all it's worth, this is an initiative which comes in favor of the environment. Once developed, the network of solar panels will be able to provide up to 10% of the energy required for production purposes.

While improving the technological processes, IKEA is also keen on complying with every international regulation regarding their services and products.
