Buzzwire, formerly known as 4th Media, announced the launch of beta preview of its mobile media streaming service that enables users to create playlists from a selection of audio and video feeds and live Internet radio stations and then access them on the mobile phone. Buzzwire is offering users a vast collection of feeds to choose from, ranging from local, national, and international news to traffic, weather, sports, entertainment, finance and more. In addition, users can add their own feeds found on the Internet and share their playlists with friends.

To use the service, consumers must first sign up for a free account online at Buzzwire's website, or from the mobile phone by typing http://m.buzzwire.com/ in the mobile's Internet browser. The service requires no application download on the mobile phone. After registering, users can begin creating playlists from Buzzwire's initial library that includes almost 5000 media sources containing both national as well as local content. Some of Buzzwire's initial offering includes: more than 2000 audio clips with daily news, sports scores, cooking tips and health advice for people and even pets; almost 1000 videos offering weather, behind-the-scenes clips from popular TV shows, Sunday morning politics shows and the funniest viral videos; over 1700 live radio stations from 100 countries. Because users can add their own feeds, the Buzzwire library will be continuously updated with new audio and video content.

"Consumers are living mobile lifestyles and should have their media readily accessible on-the-go, whenever they want it. There is an amazing world of audio and video content available on the Web, and consumers can't make sense of how to get it while mobile," said Andrew MacFarlane, CEO of Buzzwire. "Now Buzzwire will provide a place where consumers can find, add and share audio and video feeds, including their own - with instant, hassle-free access on their mobile phones."

Buzzwire works on most 3G phones and is currently available to consumers for a limited time as part of the beta preview. Buzzwire is scheduled for release with wireless carriers this fall.
