SCAMwatch issues warnings

I guess that just about any domain has its scammers. You can basically trick people and steal their money in lots of ways, with lots of deals and the web just offers the perfect environment. But you already knew that, I guess. But what you might have not known is the fact that scammers have recently targeted the online car market.

For example, fake adds keep popping up on Aussie websites, pretending to sell used cars for lower than expected prices. Sometimes, the adds are just clones of genuine ones with changed data here and there and of course, providing other contact details. They will even give you some tricky reasons for which they're selling the cars so cheap, as SCAMwatch informs. But these are just scams and you should know how to spot them - nobody is stupid enough to sell a good car for a very low price!

So, after they get a customer, these guys will ask whether the money is wired over an online account or not. After they get the dough they just disappear and the buyers will never see anything -they will get neither their money back, nor the car in any case! Take heed and don't let yourself be fooled like that - occasions when something good is cheap are very rare!

SCAMwatch offers several pieces of advice against this type of scam, out of which I'm giving you the most important: for one thing, don't rush into deals that seem too good to be true - this goes for any deal, not just the ones concerning cars! Be wary of online purchases of vehicles you can't see. Also, do not make sales outside the auctioning process, as this will make you lose any protection that the website might offer. And probably the most important thing, when regarding any online transaction - do not send credit card or online account details through e-mail!
