Microsoft’s Surface Pro tablet is a rather expensive device, given the fact that the entry-level model is priced at $899 (€688), but here’s one pretty interesting alternative for those looking for a more affordable version.

A Chinese company called HKC has created its own Surface Pro tablet simply called “Tablet PC” that’s on display these days at CeBIT 2013.

The device has all the things you could find on a Surface Pro, including a kickstand, a camera (and a Flash) plus a docking station that comes with a keyboard to replace the famous Touch Cover created by Microsoft.

According to the editors over at MobileGeeks.com, the knockoff packs 4 GB of RAM and a 32 GB SSD, it runs Windows 8 and uses a 11.6-inch screen, so it’s a bit larger than the original Surface Pro.

The good thing is that it’s a lot cheaper than Microsoft’s tablet, as it costs only $350 (€265). And you can even stamp your own name on the aluminum case if you want!

If it only has 32GB SSD then does it become almost unusable?
I would also be surprised if the screen res matches the Surface Pro specs.
I expect there may be other compromises to match the price, is it USB2 or USB3?
However it is an interesting product which will pick up momentum due to its price point. Might help keep the MS pro prices pegged back.

You get some things utterly wrong here:
1) the price for the company selling you the clone is $350, the price for the end-costumer will be way higher (something around $500-$600).
2) "The device has all the things you could find on a Surface Pro" ... really? (i3 vs. i5, 32 Gb SSD vs 64Gb/128Gb, USB2 vs USB3, low resolution on larger screen vs. Full HD resolution, no Touch or Type cover, no Wacom pen.

I seriously hope for another vendor presenting something like the Surface Pro, but this "copy" does not even come close to being anything to be excited about. Not even for the low price.
