Blizzard auctions off old WoW servers Enlarge picture - Blizzard auctions off old WoW servers
If you were wondering what happened with the old hardware after Blizzard inevitably upgraded its server infrastructure, you just got your answer: charity.

Blizzard just put 350 HP Blade servers up for auction on eBay.

They aren't just any servers, but ones with name plates indicating the realm they maintained, plus signatures from the creators of World of Warcraft.

Indeed, Blizzard is auctioning out the old servers that its famous MMORPG was hosted on.

The move is part of a charity project that will have all the proceedings go to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

St. Jude Children's Hospital treats children regardless of the financial situation of their parents.

If you feel particularly generous or just want one of those HP Blade servers for their collector's value, head right over here and place your offer.
