If Eminem won't be bothered while urinating, Busta Rhymes can't stand it when one spits on his car. The rapper was arrested last night, following Busta's performance at the Heineken AmsterJam Festival, after a fan filed assault charges.
Police reports show that other two members of the rapper's posse were also detained. It seems that Busta (real name Trevor Smith) was alerted by an insider in relation to the arrest and he tried to flee the avenue before the police got there.
He was also wanted for interrogation about the shooting and murder of his bodyguard, which took place on February 5th, outside a recording studio. Until now, Rhymes has refused to cooperate with police investigators despite the fact that he was suspected of knowing exactly who the shooter was.
'I don't know if this is normally something he would even be arrested for. But his bouncer was killed and he didn't want to cooperate. This is our way of dealing with it', a police representative said last night. But the rapper's lawyers did not waste any time in retaliating to the arrest, claiming that the star is persecuted by the police.
One of the attorneys said that the assault charge would have been punished only with a desk ticket, under normal circumstances. 'This is payback by the NYPD', he added, implying that Busta will serve as scapegoat in the murder of his bodyguard.
This is the second assault charge that is pressed against the rapper. In March, another fan claimed that he was beaten almost to death by him and one of his personal security guards for asking for an autograph. The court hearing for the latter suit was set for October 24 and until then, Bust Rhymes will not spend any time in jail, as the judge released him in his own recognizance.
