Great news from Criterion

Racing games haven't been extremely popular in recent years, largely due to Electronic Arts' Need For Speed franchise, which embedded gamers with the sense of yearly installments with no support after the release. But Criterion changed all of that, with its most recent title in its racing series, Burnout Paradise, which has seen a big amount of Downloadable Content being released for it.

Whether it was the Bikes pack, which introduced, besides the motorcycles, a day and night mode, or the recent Legendary Cars pack, which brought a lot of gamers some fond memories as it featured cars that were famous in movies or TV shows, the Criterion team strived to offer the best add-ons to the game. Now, as the dust has barely settled on the Toy Cars pack that has been launched last week, Burnout Paradise owners will receive yet another bundle, in the form of Boost Specials.

Consisting of two cars, of which only one was revealed, with the other one leaked due to an Xbox Live error, this new collection promises to place the “ultra-performance boosting machines” at your fingertips, ready to wreak havoc around Paradise City. If the aforementioned error is to be taken into account, the pack will be priced at 400 MS Points or 5 dollars and will be available this Thursday on the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store.

The first car featured is the Carson Extreme Hotrod, dubbed by the Criterion team the fastest car in Paradise City, and it will feature a new vehicle dynamics system that will reflect in the road handling of the powerful car. The second one is the Hawker Mech 400, which can be completely customizable, as you can make it handle exactly how you want it to.

Also, the development team has also announced that the PC version of the game, dubbed Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, will soon be available on Steam, for gamers who prefer the digital download way to purchase their titles.

Look forward to the new batch of DLC this Thursday, with concrete details about the cars and pricing available then.
