Burnout Crash has received an official release date from Criterion Games, its developer, which is going to deploy the new arcade car destruction game on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms later this month.

Burnout Crash was presented earlier this year, surprising the legions of Burnout fans because it wasn't a full-pledged racing game, instead focusing on just the infamous Crash mode that made previous titles in the series so popular, while eliminating the racing aspect.

"The next installment in the internationally acclaimed Burnout series will explode onto Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in Fall 2011. Criterion Games has gone back to its roots with Burnout Crash! by bringing the series’ fan-favorite Crash mode to the forefront, adding new top-down gameplay, exciting features and Autolog to let players compete with their friends while embracing their road rage," revealed Criterion and EA.

The game has now received a proper release date, as the two companies are going to deploy it for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, via the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live, respectively, on September 20, via Joystiq.

The game can be yours for $9.99 on the PSN or 800 MS Points on Xbox Live.

Instead of driving around town or engaging in various races, Burnout Crash puts you in the driver's seat of an extremely dangerous car, prone to exploding, and unleashes you into the over 18 junctions in six special locations.

During each stage, players need to come up with different strategies to maximize destruction and thus unlock new vehicles or receive surprise powers.

The game also features the Autolog online system seen in previous Need for Speed racing games like last year's Hot Pursuit or Shift 2 Unleashed. It will allow the game to easily chart the performance of players and compare them with their friends, fueling the competitive nature of its gameplay.
