The most successful subscription-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game in PC-gaming history has 8 million WoW account users at the present and it's spread all around the world, with more than 2 million on North American realms and more than 1.5 million on European realms.
are tied to specific user accounts. User accounts can be used on all servers, or realms. Characters can be moved between servers in the same region for a fee. Users can create up to 10 characters per realm with a maximum total of 50. The two playable factions currently in the game are the Alliance and Horde, both consisting of four different races each, of which there are 9 playable classes with one class unique to each faction.
The Burning Crusade is the first expansion set for World of Warcraft, it was simultaneously released in North America, Europe, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia on 16 January, and on 17 January in Australia and New Zealand.
Day one of release for The Burning Crusade brought a total of 1.2 million copies sold in North America alone. This clearly showed just how much of a demand was out there and in return, retailers of some 5000 shops worldwide had their doors open at midnight.
Blizzard's last announcement was that the game was declared the fastest-selling PC game ever in North America and Europe, with a worldwide total of nearly 2.4 million copies sold in the first 24 hours of availability, it broke all records in terms of MMO RPG.
