A thief who broke into the house of a Washington Post reporter and stole various items including a laptop, willingly uploaded his picture to his son's Facebook account in order to taunt him.

As an arrogant burglar busted the basement door of a house last Friday, he had no idea that it was the home of Washington Post columnist Marc Fisher.

Once inside, the man picked up several items including a laptop, an iPod, some savings bonds and money belonging to Fisher's 15-year-old son.

But apparently this thief likes to taunt his victims. "He felt compelled to showboat about his big achievement," Fisher writes in a blog post on the Washington Post website.

"He opened my son's computer, took a photo of himself sneering as he pointed to the cash lifted from my son's desk, and then went on my son's Facebook account and posted the picture for 400 teenagers to see," the journalist explains.

One of the police officers who arrived at the scene is quoted as saying: "I've seen a lot, but this is the most stupid criminal I've ever seen."

The burglar might have thought that its no big risk to expose his face to a 15-year-old, but he probably wasn't expecting the victim to be the son of a Washington Post reporter who shared the picture with thousands of his readers.

Fisher's post has already been "liked" by over 2,200 Facebook users. Talk about irony. It probably won't take very long until this thief is caught.

Back in December 2009, we reported about an armed robbery case where the criminal took a picture of himself with the iPhone he stole together with a woman's purse.

Unfortunately for him the phone had a feature that automatically synced pictures with the victim's online storage account. The robber turned himself in after his face was aired by local TV stations.
