Bungie's new video game, set to be published by Activision is very exciting, according to the company, but won't arrive this year.

During a recent investor's call, Activision decided to share a few details about Bungie's project, but still played coy and secretive.

"This is an opportunity which speaks for itself," it said of the impending Bungie game. "Bungie is one of the world's most gifted developers with one of the best track records in the industry."

"Although the title's not expected to launch this year, Bungie's new universe represents tremendous long-term potential for Activision Publishing," it added.

When asked for more information about the project, maybe even the genre of it, the company said that it "can't share the specifics of the game with you today" but emphasized its "absolute commitment and excitement to Bungie."

"This is one of our key strategic growth initiatives and we're setting the stage for this product now," it continued.

Plenty of gamers eagerly await the new project from Bungie, as the company made a huge name for itself by releasing the iconic Halo franchise, which spawned a whole phenomenon and pretty much made Microsoft's Xbox console what it is today.

After the company went independent from under Microsoft's corporate umbrella, the news that it had struck a 10-year deal with Activision surprised quite a lot of people.

Now, it seems that the studio is hard at work in order to deliver on its promise, and analysts are forecasting huge sales based on Bungie's name alone.

Seeing as how Activision axed one of its long-running franchises, Guitar Hero, during the investor's call, and said that it's going to invest more in the Call of Duty series, another big franchise, coming from Bungie, is just what it needed to continue being the world's biggest games publisher in the world.

If things go smoothly, perhaps we might hear some concrete details from Bungie around E3, this summer or at the end of the year.
