Nathan Richardsson, the executive producer working on the MMO Defiance, says that his game and the Destiny project from Bungie can both succeed on home consoles because they create experiences that blend various types of media.

He tells The Official Xbox Magazine that, “There is a place for massive online experience which doesn’t have that learning cliff and is more a transmedia experience.”

The developer adds, “I believe both Destiny and Defiance will be examples of where we’re trying that out, breaking new ground and there is more than enough room for us, and others.”

MMOs have traditionally failed to perform well on home consoles because their core audiences want the more complex experience offered by the PC.

Defiance will be launched on the PC and home consoles during April and Destiny is expected on a variety of devices later during the year.
