Bungie and Activision promised a few days ago they would award all Destiny players a legendary item later this week through Postmaster. Developers didn’t disclose the exact date when the giveaway would start but stated that they would keep us in the loop through their official communication channels.

Today, Bungie has confirmed that it has started to send Legendary Tokens to each Destiny player as a sign of gratitude for their loyalty. In fact, the reason behind the reward is still unknown, but many believe that Bungie wants to make it easier for players to reach and complete the end-game content.

Well, even though Bungie initially said that they would be sending “a small, but Legendary token of gratitude” to Destiny players, it looks like the gift is not that small at all.

First of all, this isn’t a cosmetic item, so you can start getting excited now. Many Destiny players have taken to Twitter to confirm that they have received various legendary weapons when unwrapping these tokens received from Bungie.

You may get a very powerful legendary weapon if you're lucky

Depending on your luck, you could receive a Sniper rifle, a rocket launcher or many other legendary weapons that are available in-game. Obviously, some of these legendary weapons will be less powerful than others, but everyone should appreciate the gift nonetheless.

However, some who are better geared may be tempted to trade their gifts for ascendant energy. Either way, you should first check your Postmaster to see if your Legendary token has arrived.

Bungie has confirmed that millions of packages are sent to Destiny players throughout the day, but it might take a while until they reach their destination.

The Legendary tokens that Bungie is now sending to Destiny players may have something to do with the fact that PSN and Xbox Live were down during Christmas. The former was down for several days even, so Bungie may offer this gift to compensate the downtime, although it’s not really their fault.
