The upcoming Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary edition has gotten the original developer of the series, Bungie, very excited, at least according to the new studio that shepherds the franchise, 343 Industries.
Microsoft's
Halo series is set to continue with a brand new trilogy next year, as the company confirmed
Halo 4 at last week's E3 2011 conference. Until then, however, gamers will get a chance to once again experience the first Halo game, with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition.
The title, currently in development at the Saber and Certain Affinity studios, under the guidance of 343 Industries, the new studio in charge of the franchise, delivers the classic Halo 1 experience but with HD graphics, improved story and lots of other special things.
According to Dan Ayoub, the executive producer of the game, Bungie, the original developer behind the series, is excited about this remastering of their first Halo game.
"Obviously Bungie's been a fantastic partner to us for a great deal of time," he said. "Their office is probably 15 minutes away from ours, right? We still have a great relationship with those guys. They obviously know we're doing this, you know."
When actually asked if Bungie approves of its work being redone after less than 10 years, Ayoub said to
CVG that the studio is extremely busy on its new project, set to be unveiled in partnership with Activision.
"They're real busy, right, working on all their other stuff. They obviously know what we're doing and all that goodness. But they've been heads down working on their new stuff. Like I said, they know we're doing it. They're excited about it. I've bumped into them a couple of times at E3 and we're going to try to get them in here and give them a chance to check it out."
The executive highlighted basically the same things as Frank O'Connor, the creative director at 343 Industries, saying that
Halo: Combat Evolved HD will respect the work of Bungie and make it available to a new generation of gamers that didn't get to experience it on the original Xbox console.
"But I think everyone's thrilled to celebrate the ten year anniversary of a game that obviously they shaped," he added. "They were the guys that kicked off this entire franchise. We're trying to do justice to them and the history of the game itself."
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition is set to appear on November 15, exclusively for the Xbox 360 console.
