The Dark Below is the first full expansion for Destiny and the development team working on it at Bungie has made it clear that it plans to integrate a lot of the feedback that it has been receiving from the community in the new content.

David Dague, aka Deej, the leading community liaison at the studio, tells a fan podcast that the company is at the moment putting the finishing touches on the new areas and the new mechanics, many of which have been worked on since the first-person shooter was first launched.

He states, “We are the new Bungie. We’re the Bungie that shipped Destiny and that has changed us. If you look at how many times we have updated this game, you can see how many things we have learned from our game and how many thing we have been willing to change about our game.”

The Dark Below was being planned even before Destiny was first launched and Bungie has said that all the new areas and raids will be completely integrated into the game world as it exists at the moment.

Deej adds, “We’re very deliberately taking action on how the game can be stronger, or more stable, or more diverse in the way you are all powerful.”

The expansion does not yet have a clear launch date and will probably be accompanied by a major patch that will be offered even to those who do not buy it.

Destiny has a ten-year life plan

Bungie has already announced that, in the middle of 2015, the social shooter will also receive a second major content drop with House of Wolves, but no details have been offered about it.

The community has been very supportive of Destiny since it was first introduced and the company says that the number of active players has stayed high so far.

The studio has been delivering a number of updates and hotfixes in order to tweak the core balance of the weapons and plans to react to feedback as fast as possible in the future.

Most connectivity issues that were affecting some players are gone and weekly events are running to make sure that the community stays interested.

Both Bungie and Activision have said that they have a ten-year life plan for the universe they have created for Destiny, which involves both classic expansions and the creation of an entirely new title, which some rumors suggest might arrive in late 2015.
