Joseph Staten, a design director working on Destiny, says that Bungie is working hard to create a narrative for the upcoming game, which will mix events that take place in the single-player game mode and in multiplayer matches.

He tells AusGamers that, “So the legend that you’re building, you’ll have stuff that you got out of the campaign, you’ll have stuff that you earnt from competitive multiplayer, and it will all be part of this common character that’s you in the world.”

It’s not yet clear whether players will be able to simply enjoy the single player or if multiplayer events are required to progress some elements of Destiny.

The new game uses core first-person shooter features, but it will also include exploration and light role playing.

Destiny is expected to arrive in 2014.
