After a lot of speculation on the part of the player base, the development team at Bungie is finally willing to confirm that there are no plans to allow all the characters that have been used during the beta test for the shooter to transfer to the full version of the game.

An official announcement from the company says that characters have been wiped from the game and that the vaults of all those who have taken part have also been cleaned, and the development team delivers a pretty good eulogy for the experiences that players have now lost forever.

Bungie says, "What you just experienced is something we’ve been through countless times here at Bungie. We feel your pain, and then some. Making a game requires iteration and progress. When we reinvent the world where the Guardians live, sometimes we have to leave them behind."

Tyson Green, one of the designers at Bungie, who played the game and lost a number of his own Guardians to wipes, says that the measure was necessary in order to make the full title a solid experience for all those involved.

He explains that "Since the Beta, we’ve continued to tune and adjust the game. The way you earn experience has been adjusted up and down a bunch of times. Items have been added and removed. New features toggled. Although there’s no single monumental change, the sum of the tweaks leaves characters from the Beta Build in strange shape that would be confusing at best, broken at worst."

The beta period for Destiny was pretty complex and allowed the team at Bungie to test the core game experience and a lot of the network infrastructure that will support the title on launch, with a number of changes implemented based on it.

The company has repeatedly told the community that it is thankful for the time and energy they have put in it and will give all those who have played the testing stage a special title in order to signal their commitment.

Destiny will be out on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, the PS3 and the 360 on September 9.

The experience will mix a classic first-person shooter base with elements taken from the role-playing and the massive multiplayer genre, and Bungie has said that the title will offer opportunities for both those who love solo play and those who want to connect with other players.
