Gamers will need to think fast when they face one of them

The powerful characters that gamers have been seeing in the beta version of Destiny will be part of the final release of the title and are designed to serve as a sort of signpost which shows gamers where they should explore and which areas they should stay away from.

Derek Caroll, a senior designer working on the shooter, says that the internal name for them is bouncers and explains to VG247 that they are designed to take out even high-level characters rather quickly.

He adds, “There are places you can go and some people made a sport of it, where you can speed-run through. If anybody hits you, you’re dead, but you can speed-run through and get to the other side and see places you’re technically not supposed to be.”

Gamers who see a bouncer need to understand that they are in danger and need to decide whether they want to risk death to get to a special area or whether they want to flee and return later with increased power.

Destiny is a shooter that also has MMO and role-playing elements, and gamers will be able to get access to the full experience on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and last-gen consoles, and beta characters will not be transferred.
