People Can Fly, the Polish developer responsible for classic titles like Painkiller as well as the more recent Bulletstorm, might start working on the Gears of War franchise and deliver a prequel trilogy of titles for its owner, Epic Games, at least according to a new rumor.

After delivering Gears of War 3, which concludes the trilogy that focuses on the Delta Squad, Epic Games made it clear that the Gears of War series will continue, given the rich universe.

According to a report, made by the US Official Xbox Magazine, via CVG, Polish studio People Can Fly, which was acquired by Epic many years ago, will make a trilogy of prequel titles, which follow the events before the start of Gears of War 1, including the infamous Emergence Day.

People Can Fly already worked on Gears of War before, porting the first game onto the PC platform back in 2007 and Bulletstorm proved that it can deliver a triple-A title, even if it didn’t sell all that well earlier this year.
