One reason mobile devices have managed to progress so much over the past couple of years is because NAND Flash memory evolved as well, and the new product from MyDigitalSSD comes to reinforce this fact.

By now, users will be well acquainted with the fact that NAND Flash storage more or less owns the mobile market, up to and including part of all tablets.

What's more, solid state drives have been showing up more and more as part of notebooks and desktops, while new ones even showed themselves not long ago.

That said, new SandForce-powered SATA drives aren't the only type of SSD that the worldwide market got to see.

Apparently, MyDigitalSSD decided this was a good time to unleash what it calls the second-generation Bullet Proof line.

The first thing some might notice about the 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB newcomers is that they are shaped like add-in-boards.

This, apparently, is precisely what they are, more or less, specifically 50mm PCI Express SSDs of the the mSATA variety.

Built out of MLC (multi-level cell) NAND Flash memory chips, they can read and write data at up to 270 MB/s and 200 MB/s, respectively.

Also, they fully support TRIM (which maintains their performance over time) and have a MTBF of 2 million hours, plus 35,000 4k Random Read IOPS.

All in all, the 50mm newcomers should be more than ready to land in such things as notebooks and tablets and have been fully detailed on their maker's official website, located here. The page actually has the full list of compatible machines.

Those that want to make use of them as soon as possible will have to meet the prices of $79.99 (32 GB), $139.99 (64 GB) and $279.99 (128 GB) and will get a 2 year replacement warranty.
