Developers can leverage the Microsoft MultiPoint Software Development Kit (SDK) in order to build Windows applications that allow up to 250 mice to be used simultaneously on the same computer. The latest version of the development framework is now available for download, with the bits live on the Microsoft Download Center since March 19, 2009.
MultiPoint is the software giant's way to ensure Collaborative eLearning via Microsoft Unlimited Potential. The SDK is designed to create applications for undeserved communities in the developing world where the ratio of computer to student is less favorable to permitting one-on-one interaction.
Multipoint SDK v1.1 brings to the table a variety of new features, including: “resolution of major functionality issues leading to a more reliable and stable code base with additional debugging capabilities; support of Visual Basic based Project Templates; compatibility with Visual 2008 through project templates; support for extending existing Microsoft Windows Presentation Foundation controls to support multiple mouse cursors; improved Plug n Play Support for Input Devices; integration with Flash based object model resulting in easier development of Flash applications based on SDK Developer Ready White Papers and Video Tutorials; and better Sample Applications along with the sample code,” Microsoft informed.
A project from Microsoft Research, MultiPoint 1.1 SDK was initially planned to ship by the end of the past year. However, the Redmond company postponed the release until this month in an effort to enhance the software development kit even more compared to the original plans. “I'm sorry for the delayed update. I know many of you have been waiting for the next release of the SDK, which we hoped would come out in December. We decided to make a few more improvements. Apologies for the delay but we hope you will all be happy with the enhancements in the new version,”
revealed a member of the Microsoft MultiPoint SDK in February 2009.
