You can raise tiny plants on your desktop and feel tranquil all the time

Ikebana might be a sophisticated art, and one that doesn't lend itself to just any environment, but some people like to raise tiny gardens on their desktop anyway or other corners of their house.

For those situations, you can't really get the normal rake and shovels. They're bigger than your head after all, no fit for small, palm-sized earth patches and tiny pots.

To help people raise their own miniature gardens or maybe beautify a terrarium, a woman by the name of Trisha Bell has designed some 3D printed specialist tools.

The best part about them is that you only need to 3D print the “heads” of the tools, because they can be mounted on the back of pencils. If you don't have a printer, never fear, for the tools are up for sale (made from nylon) at €24.81 / $33.32.

Although this does come with some unfortunate limitations: the pencils need to be hexagonal, measure 7.25 mm in diameter (0.28 inches), and not have an eraser at the end. The last bit can be easily enough handled, but not the other two. Potentially problematic if you don't draw much and thus don't have a box of pencils just lying around.

Then again, it wouldn't be the first time that someone stuffs paper, gum, or play-doh inside a hole to make rods stay put once stuck in. It all depends on how creative you are.

Or you could just buy a box of pencils anyway, since it's assumed that the Desktop Gardening will be an ongoing occupation, so you may as well get the necessities out of the way.
