If diamonds are truly a girl's best friends, then so should be a species of bug, called diamond weevil, living in Australia.

Even those who do not like insects will be tempted to take a look at the diamond weevil and admire its gorgeous wings covered with a one-of-a-kind natural opal-like coating that sparkles while exposed to sunlight, reveals the National Wildlife Federation. The blue and green bug must be really proud of its natural outfit, looking like a coat made using millions of diamonds.

It could definitely inspire designers hired by pampered celebrities, but the Australian diamond weevil is much more useful than that.

The fashion and jewelry industries are not the only two sectors hoping to exploit the awesome feature. Scientists think that the tiny creature, living in forests and urban regions, has a lot of potential and consider the possibility of analyzing its fabulous garment to come up with new materials.
