Buffalo has made available a new firmware package targeted at two of its AirStation devices, namely version 1.40 compatible with the WHR-600D and WHR-300HP2 routers, which includes several changes that improve overall performance and stability.

Specifically speaking, this fresh update corrects various typos in Settings, fixes a problem where bandwidth was automatically set to 20 MHz in 40 MHz networks, as well as the one regarding bridge mode that was not detected properly while in auto mode.

In addition to that, if version 1.40 is applied, PPPoE connections will be able to automatically disconnect when the firmware is updated online, as well as to reestablish after the device restarts, and the AirStation will properly connect to the Internet even if SSID isolation is enabled.

Moreover, the problem with the SSID that wasn’t broadcast when router was awakened from eco mode through the AOSS button has also been resolved.

As for installing this release, get and extract the proper downloadable archive, ensure that both the computer and the router are on the same network subnet, and log into the AirStation’s web interface.

Now go to “Update AirStation Firmware,” click “Browse,” navigate and select the firmware file from the newly created folder, and click “Apply.”

At this point, the router will initiate the upgrade process and the power LED will start blinking red for about 6 minutes, so make sure you don’t turn off the device. After the installation has completed, the LED will either blink green or turn off.

That being said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your router, take into account all aforementioned aspects, and update your AirStation device.
