They should have an easy time storing and transferring information between PCs

Portable hard disk drive units are something that Buffalo launches on a regular basis, so it's not so hard to believe that the company would have a new set up for sale.

Alas, that's not what I'm about to tell you. You see, Buffalo does not, in fact, have a new collection of HDDs to sell.

Instead, it has only prepared them for when they go up for sale in April, late April to be exact. And even then, they will only be available in Japan for a while.

There are three new drives up for perusal (or will be, as I said). All of them are part of the Mini Station line.

Specifically, they are known, collectively, as the Mini Station HD-PLFU3 Series. They come in 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB. In that order, they are 11.5 mm, 14 mm and 19.5 mm thick, respectively.

The 500 GB HDD has a price of 9,870 yen, or $96 / €70, the 1 TB drive will sell for 13,965 yen ($136 / €98), and the 2 TB one for 20,895 yen ($203 / €146).

The newcomers are all 2.5-inch HDDs with USB 3.0 connectivity. They probably won't manage to use that 5 Gbps speed fully, but they'll do fine, especially compared to USB 2.0 drives (4.8 Mbps max).
