Should start shipping later this month

Buffalo unveiled a significant number of storage solutions already, but the consumer base is always on the lookout for new products. As such, it makes sense that the company would seek to take advantage of this penchant that its customers have for the freshness factor. Its latest move in this direction consists of the release of two product lines. One of them is a flash drive series by the name of RUF2-JMS, whereas the other is a hard drive line known as HD-LBU2.

The Flash drive collection is, in fact, the same unit, only with multiple capacity options. It weighs only 10 grams and measures 21 x 9 x 55 mm. They have a retractable USB connector construction and can communicate at speeds of up to 33 MB/s. This is possible thanks to the turbo PC software tool. The product employs a sleek, polished metal frame and is colored glossy night black, moon silver, ocean blue or earth brown. The capacities will be of 4GB and 8GB when they start shipping later this month, though prices are still unknown.

The second product that Buffalo readied is the aforementioned HD-LBU2 external hard disk drive. It measures 39 x 123 x 189 mm, weighs 1kg and is meant to provide PCs, consoles or other consumer electronics with a substantial amount of extra storage. To be more specific, the drive comes in 500GB, 1TB, 1.5TB and even 2TB versions. It can also sit horizontally or vertically and connects via the USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 interfaces, just like the flash drives themselves. Furthermore, the Eco Manager software reduces power consumption by lowering the rotary speed of the platters when idle.

The 500GB HDD will sell for $133 when it becomes available, sometime around the middle of August. The 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB version should debut around the same time, priced at $169, $219 and $269, respectively.
