External Blu-ray drives get the bandwidth they need

Japanese company Buffalo has announced today the release of its new external Blu-ray drive on its official website. The new drive is connected through a fast USB 3.0 interface.

The new device is called BRXL-14U3 and is able to write a single layer BD-R at a speed of 14x.

A double-layer BD-R will be written at a fast 12x, while triple-layer BDXL-R disks can be written at a maximum of 6x.

The BD-RE XL disks with four layers will be recorded at a maximum speed of 2x.  

The Buffalo BRXL-14U3 features DTCP-enabled disk writing and it’s bundled with Buffalo DiXiM BD Burner 2011 software.

Cyberlink Blu-ray 3D playback software is also included, and the official launch is slated for the end of this month.  

The pricing will be 286 USD for US clients or around 218 Euro for European buyers.
