The unit seems to house two 2.5” HDDs with a 1TB capacity each

Nagoya-headquartered, Japanese company Buffalo Melco Holdings Inc. just announced a new external HDD with USB 3.0 interface, on the company’s official website. The new device touts low power consumption and a new, patent pending shock absorbing technology.

The new external HDD unit from Buffalo is powered solely by the USB 3.0 cable which leads us to believe that there are two 2.5” HDDs inside.

Buffalo’s new external HDD comes with several useful software programs from the company that allows you to store you files safely with a 256-bit encryption and decreases access time.

The new product is officially called HD-PNT2.0U3-GBJ measures 82 by 118 by 22 millimeters and that’s about 3.2” by 4.64” by 0.86” in imperial.

Pricing stands at a high $392 (or €308) and the whole thing weighs a total of 260 grams.

That’s about 0.57 pounds and Buffalo offers 12 months of warranty.

Availability is slated for late June 2012.
