There can be such a thing as too much controversy and too much media attention. Following several drug arrests / scandals and Shain Gandee’s tragic death last week, MTV has decided the best thing to do about “Buckwild” is to axe it altogether.
Official confirmation of the cancelation is still pending, with TMZ saying it will probably come today.
The second season of the controversial reality series was being shot, but MTV will not air the episodes already completed – about 4 of them, the same media outlet says.
“Sources connected to the show tell us MTV decided to stop production in the middle of the second season of the show, which followed the lives of young people in a rural West Virginia town,” TMZ writes.
“We're told MTV didn't give the cast and crew any specific reason for the cancellation,” it adds.
A “Buckwild” special taped a couple of months ago will still air, at a yet to be announced date.
