Stride Gum joins the fight against Uwe

The petition that's been up for a while, trying to convince Uwe Boll to quit ruining video game franchises, only has a bit over 260,000 signatures - that is way below the million signatures demanded by the director if he were to stop directing (and he's not going to even if two million people sign that, anyway...).

However, some companies are trying to take advantage of the whole situation and use it for a bit of free marketing - that's the case of Stride Gum, the company that decided to offer free gum for those who vote against Uwe. In their own words, according to U.G.O. Movieblog: "Since gamers are one of our most supportive groups, we've been looking for ways to return the favor," said Gary Osifchin, Stride North American Marketing Director. "And what better way is there to get gamers' backs than by helping them rescue their cherished videogames from the clutches of Uwe Boll?"

Let's be honest now and see how strange this situation really is: the gum company doesn't care at all about Uwe Boll, his movies or if he's going to develop any more movies based on video games. All they want is a good image, they want gamers to love them for supporting their cause. But if you don't care about all these and really want your free bubblegum coupon, you'll be entitled to get it on the 23rd of May - exactly when Uwe Boll's latest movie, Postal, will be released in the United States.

Strangely, it seems that this specific movie will be the first one to be launched in the United States that won't have an average IMDB rating lower than 3.0 out of ten - it has, right now, a 3.9 average of 4,000 votes. And that's great for a movie created by the only director to have three movies in the bottom 100 movie list on the website!
