Brutal Legend is one of the most interesting games of this fall, promising to take players on an epic journey into the fantasy world of heavy metal and rock. Featuring famous actor and musician Jack Black as Eddie Riggs, a roadie who is transported to a fantasy world where elements from the metal music genre are predominant, he must free
everyone from under the tyranny of Doviculus.

As the game boasts other famous voice actors, like Ozzy Osbourne or Rob Halford, the main villain was also set to be voiced by yet another Black Sabbath singer, Ronni James Dio. But it now seems that things haven't gone as planned and that the primary bad guy of the game will have the voice of Hollywood actor Tim Curry.

Here's what Tim Schafer, the creator behind Brutal Legend, had to say about the change in plans for his game: “Ronnie James Dio is an amazing singer and truly one of the great figures of Metal, but as the character of Doviculus evolved, we realized that Tim Curry was a better fit for the part. Anyone who has seen his amazing performance as the Lord of Darkness in the movie Legend knows why we cast him in the role of Doviculus, Emperor of the Tainted Coil.”

While Tim Curry is certainly a fine actor and already possesses a respectable amount of gaming credibility, as he acted in the recent Red Alert 3 real-time strategy game, having Dio lend his talent would have certainly added to the overall metal theme of Brutal Legend.

Hopefully, more of the surprises that Tim Schafer promised us a few days ago will come to fruition as the game nears its scheduled release date in October. Until then, let's hope that nothing bad happens to the project.
