Brutal Legend has been bound to receive an expansion pack for quite a while now, but details regarding it have not escaped the mouths of the officials. That has changed, as the downloadable-content pack has finally been revealed to the world. Tears of the Hextadon will become available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on November 5, but, as always, the pack will receive different offers for each release. Hextadon will be available on Xbox Live for 400 Microsoft points, while the PlayStation Network will give it for free until November 19. After that, the DLC will cost £3.99.

Brutal Legend Tears of the Hextadon will add two new maps to the multiplayer fights and all those that downloaded the pack will also get a new weapon, the Blade of Ormagöden. The first map, Circle of Tears, will have players go around in circles trying to bash each other's skulls in, as the vile waters of the land have carved bare rocks and transformed the landscape. The second map, Death's Fjord, will bring players to the icy mountain peaks.

Tim Schafer, the president of Double Fine Productions, showed himself as a great fan of the game. “I play Brutal Legend online every night,” he said. “And I need more maps! Circle of Tears is named after the crying of my vanquished foes on the battlefield, and Death’s Fjord is obviously a tribute to my Nordic ancestors, and their love of fan geysers and… Well, actually I just thought the name was cool. See you online!” Well, at least he admitted there was no real reason behind giving something a fancy name besides the fact that it had a nice ring to it.

It's no wonder Schafer loves his game, because everybody else does too. Brutal Legend received an amazing response from the critics. PLAY Magazine awarded the game a perfect 10 out of 10 and said that it was the “greatest video game ever created.” Brutal also passed through the hands of IGN, it was awarded 9 points out of 10 and won Editor’s Choice and the “one of the best games” titles. It is available, just as the DLC's release suggests, on the Xbox 360 and PS3 for the recommended retail price of £49.99.
