Not only is Bruno Mars one of the hottest singers of the moment, after he simply rocked the stage and wooed audiences during the Super Bowl half time performance, but, according to latest reports, he's also making his first steps into an acting career.

The Inquisitr says that Mars has just landed a role in the upcoming animation movie “Rio 2,” the sequel to the film that tells the tale of a domesticated macaw who can't fly but learns the ropes of being a bird after he gets lost in Rio de Janeiro.

Mars is thus billed to appear alongside some other musical names in the production, such as Janelle Monae. The decision to cast Mars for a role in the film came from director Carlos Saldanha, after he saw the singer performing on Saturday Night Live.

What is interesting is the fact that this will actually be Bruno's second role, as his first performance was a small part in the film “Honeymoon in Vegas,” where he played the part of Little Elvis.

Because he wanted Bruno Mars so badly on the production, the director actually ended up rewriting the character of Roberto to better suit the singer's voice.
