Beyonce’s fans joked that she was the one who cut off the power during the Super Bowl 2013 with her amazing performance, but my guess is Bruno Mars’ halftime show will be just as impressive.

He’s just been confirmed as headliner of sport’s biggest and most televised event, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Super Bowl XLVIII will take place on February 2, 2014 at the MetLife Stadium, N.J. The halftime performance is the most watched live music concert.

News that Mars had landed the much coveted gig broke one day earlier, when an insider told the AP that the official announcement was forthcoming. This turned out to be the case.

“The announcement came amid great fanfare during the Fox NFL Sunday broadcast, which was held live from Times Square in New York City and hyped the first full weekend of the pro-football season,” the LA Times writes.

“WE'RE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!!!!! #PepsiSBHalftime Hooligans we did it!” Bruno tweeted after the announcement, as per the same publication.

I am positive I am not alone in feeling absolutely thrilled about this: Bruno is one of the most energetic and versatile artists in the industry and his live shows are particularly outstanding. Just think back to his VMAs 2013 performance for an example.
