“Bruno,” Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest movie slash mockumentary starring Bruno, an Austrian fashionista not afraid to speak his mind, is currently running in theaters across the world. The PR machine for it continues to be in high gear, as Bruno is the latest celebrity to grace the pages of Out Magazine – while also offering one of the most hilarious interviews ever to be printed.

Cohen has made a tradition out of promoting his movies (namely “Borat” and “Bruno”) in full character, so there’s no wonder the latter is featured in such reputed magazines as Marie Claire and GQ, two of the biggest fashion mags of the moment. Now, it is the turn of Out, the Bible of the LGBT community, to feature him in a brilliant photo spread and even more exquisite interview. Bruno, as fans must already know, makes no secret of his orientation and, since the purpose of his film is to draw attention to homophobia, among others, the decision of the staff at Out seems completely justified.

Among the many topics Bruno touches upon, such as war, fame and being open about his orientation, the eccentric and already controversial Austrian also discusses fashion, offering some of the most hilarious one-liners he has ever given the media. “[Out:] What does the movie say about fashion? [Bruno:] You know ze song zat says ‘it doesn’t matter vat you wear, just as long as you are zere’? Vell, mein movie says pretty much exactly ze opposite of zat. You know it makes me so angry, ze lack of respect fashion gets. Did you know zat not one world war has ever been started by a model? People should think about that.” an excerpt of the interview reads.

Aside from admitting that he knew since before birth that he would be as famous and as fabulous as he is today, Bruno also can’t help himself from taking another swing at the fashion industry. Fans must know that, aside from homophobia, “Bruno” also harshly criticizes the fashion industry, trying to expose its ridiculousness and snobbism by holding the mirror against it.

“[Out:] Indeed, the movie touches on some pretty hot button issues. [Bruno:] It shows zat besides ze beautiful things in fashion, zere’s alzo ein ugly side too. Like some of ze less pretty models und Karl Lagerfeld. OMG, zat guy looks like Boris Yeltsin in drag! He tried to hit on me at Milan last year. Ich told him, ‘I don’t care how thick your gloves are – you’re not touching it!’” the interview goes.
