Since these past few years have been marked by sequels and remakes of all kinds, here comes yet another one. This time, however, it’s not a feature film that is being remade, as Variety reports, but what has been described as one of the wittiest and funniest television shows of the ‘80s, “Moonlighting,” starring Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd.
According to the abovementioned publication, sources in the film industry are talking about a remake of the classic show for the small screen, so as to celebrate its twentieth year of existence. And, while nothing has yet been confirmed, fans of Bruce, but also of the show, are more than happy about the idea of seeing the two actors together for one final adventure.
“The creator of ‘Moonlighting’ was Glenn Gordon Caron, and a little bird tells us that Caron is hot to reunite Cybill and Bruce for a 20th anniversary ‘Moonlighting’ TV movie. The most surprising aspect of this is that Bruce Willis, who went on to become one of the biggest movie stars in the world (still is), has shown definite interest.” Variety writes in its latest issue. Moreover, sources are saying that at least one of the two stars is keen on the project – “Bruce is ready to give it a go. He still holds a lot of fondness for the show.”
Leaving aside for a moment the fact that nothing official has yet been heard of this, Variety seems to have all the pieces of the puzzle and to even be willing to put them in place for us, that is, if the reunion does get greenlit and becomes real.
“And, if a ‘Moonlighting’ reunion gets off the ground, there is only one demand both Bruce and Cybill will make – that Caron have creative control. Bringing David and Maddie back to life so many years later will be a daunting task. The stars feel only Caron can get it right.” the publication claims.
Since, at this point in time, no arguments have been brought to refute the story, we might as well take it as it is: a possible Bruce Willis – Cybill Shepherd could be in the future. Keep an eye on this space for more on this.
