14 DAY TRIAL // Episode 11 of the Between Two Ferns interview series with Zach Galifianakis for Funny Or Die features a very awkward and extremely funny interview with Bruce Willis, who is promoting “RED.”
The film, which sees Bruce join forces with the likes of Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich Mary Louise Parker as secret agents, drops in theaters this Friday and he’s been very busy promoting it.
After an appearance on David Letterman, in which he wore a meat hairpiece, Willis has now agreed to do one of Galifianakis’ interviews for the Funny Or Die website.
As fans must know, the series of interviews is called like that because, obviously, they take place between two ferns.
While some believe that Galifianakis does much better paired with someone like Sean Penn, his interview with Willis is also close to brilliant, especially since it marks the first time Zach almost breaks character and laughs.
When the interview kicks off, Willis seems very much out of it, not hearing when he’s told he shouldn’t be smoking and barely answering the questions that are being thrown at him at rapid speed.
“How many children do you have?” Zach asks at one point, to which Bruce replies, “3” almost without blinking and definitely appearing as if he doesn’t even understand why he’s there in the first place.
Galifianakis, though, marches on.
“Which is your favorite? Ashton? Do you get his tweets? Like, you call him, and go, ‘Hey, I got your tweets. Pretty good tweeting today’,” he says.
And the questions just keep on coming: “Did you know some actors turn down roles?” “Where do you keep your Oscar?” “Have you ever thought about a Grumpy Old Men reboot?”
Eventually, Zach tells Bruce that the interview started about 4 minutes ago, which is when he snaps back to reality – or so it seems.
When Willis starts to reminisce about the ‘80s, when “everything used to be so much fun, man” and “women were cleaner,” hilarity ensues.
